Happy New Year! :)
Resolutions are annoying. As the people on tv said multiple times before the ball dropped, nobody keeps their resolutions. But, it's primarily because it's unreasonable. Plus, a lot of times their just plain boring. Yeah working out more, eating better, all those things are good, but are you actually going to think to do it? Do you even want to?
Most of the time, I don't make resolutions. Or if I do, I forget them. And forget even making them. So, this year I have a resolution, and I like it, so I'm gonna do it. Here's the plan:
Every month I'm going to have an appreciation day. I'm picking the 27th. It's at the end of the month (for reason's I'll so discuss) but it's not quite in the last few always-changing days. 3o days hath.... yeah, who cares, too complicated for a monthly same-date thing. But before this day, I'll choose a person that has been important to me during that month, or that I really appreciated, or ya know, that kind of thing. Once chosen, I'll do a little write-up to them, decorate it, draw pictures, put it on pretty paper, and I'll tell them what I feel like they should know. In a positive way though; it's a happy thing, not a criticism thing. Unless it's an inside joke. If they don't live in g-ville, I'll take a picture and post it on fb. If they don't have a fb either...they're less likely to have been very significant. I will have that done by and given/posted to on the 27th.
Why I think this resolution will work: I like doing this kind of thing. And people do the same with the truth is's on fb. It's just, for that, it's the other people doing the 'liking' to be put on the list, and they're expecting one. If you don't see it, you don't get one. This way, I choose who, and they get a happy surprise. Another reason? No money involved. Unless it starts costing to think, or our house buys down and we lose everything, I'll be fine. And the greatest reason of all- how many months in a year? 12! That means I only have to do it 12 times! Even with the crazy Cambridge band high-schooler schedule that I have, I have a full month to do each one (however long that month turns out to be, plus, we have a leap year too!).
This month: who am I going to do? Idk, wait and see! I don't even know yet. I'll probably decide around the 15th or so. In fact, I'll set a date for when I need to know by, and put a phone reminder. Hmmm, the 17th. I like that one better. 10 days before. And, of course, these dates are a little biased because 7 is one of my favorite numbers. :) Yay! Anything else? Nothing comes to mind. Have a great year and may the odds be ever in your favor! Can't wait for that movie... <3
